Siemens Energy ships first compression train to Aramco gas reservoir storage project from Saudi Hub

The HUGRS project, located 162 miles (260 kilometers) east of Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, includes a gas injection facility that will enable the Kingdom to produce additional gas during the seasonal demand.
Siemens Energy received the order for the compressors from Samsung Engineering, which was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the entire project. Ten compression trains will be built for the injection portion of the plant, and another ten compression trains will be used for the reproduction portion of the plant.
The compressor trains are being assembled at the Siemens Energy Dammam Hub, in line with the company’s commitment to Aramco’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add program.
“We are very proud of our local workforce at our Siemens Energy Dammam Hub who were able to deliver the first compressor train in a timely manner despite difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mahmoud Sulaimani, Managing Director of Siemens Energy Saudi Arabia.
Siemens Energy Dammam Hub is the largest gas turbine and compressor manufacturing facility in the region, and includes a full-fledged service set up to cover the entire product lifecycle. The Hub’s advanced Service Workshop is where any kind of rotating equipment can be serviced, from small repair work to complex modifications and upgrades for pumps, gears, compressors, heavy generators, and large gas turbine rotors with their Hot Gas Parts.
